Pantelleria has numerous world class restaurants. There are also many places to try pizza. Many of the eateries are in Damussi that are hundreds of years old, made from the volcanic stones by the Arabic inhabitants of an earlier time.
A typical meal for two people, including a good wine, is about 50 euro. Pizza for two, about 35 euro with wine. There are small and intimate restuarants, as well as establishments able to seat several hundered people. They are hidden all over the island, as well as in the main village.

Markets
Numerous fresh meat, fresh fruits and fresh fish markets thrive on Pantelleria. Everyone has a great passion for fresh food here. In the markets you will find very few canned foods or processed foods of any kind. There is a special market for frozen fish from Sicilia and several large grocery stores. Vegetables are exceptionally good, fresh and cheap. Superior pastries and hand made ice cream shops are in the main village.

Bars
In Italy in general a bar is a multi-dimensional space offering drinks, snacks, hand made food and coffee as well as traditional bar drinks and beer and wine. The differences between a bar in Sicily and a bar in America are extreme.

While the food here is unmistakenly Italian, there is a very strong and interesting Tunesian influence on the tables of this isalnd. The soup in the photo at the top right is a typical Tunesian soup.
